The goal of the project

The goal of the project: To connect students from school 16 (Miass,Russia) and
the Saddle River Day School (New Jersey, USA) to build friendship to engage in 
cross-cultural dialogue and develop 21st century skills.

Project idea: Students explore the history of their communities in social and cultural
aspects and share their findings with their peer partners.

There were framed themes to investigate:

 1. History of my local community.

2. Nature where I live.

3. Famous people of the past and present in my community.

4. History of my family in the history of my town/village.

5. Legends of my city/village.

6. Culture and traditions of my community (national traditions and customs/my community national dress/my community national cuisine).

Classroom activities: e-mail exchange; IEARN Local History project forum discussion; diaries and essay writing, drawing pictures and collecting photos; videoconferences via Skype.
